Introducing Heliya Badakhshan
When I find out what it is about and what it means I will let you know.
Heliya Badakhshan
Heliya is an emerging artist based in Sheffield. She graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA in Fine Arts and a MFA in Contemporary Fine Arts. A recipient of Paul Morrison’s mentoring programme, Heliya received the “Best in the show” award for her degree show from artistic director Laura Sillars of Site Gallery in 2015 as well as a variety of grants to develop her practice. Her artistic creations have been exhibited in Munich and Sheffield.
Heliya says of the process behind the production of an artwork:
Having no preconception, no condemnation, no expectations and no judgement, having no knowledge when making art are the fundamentals of my process. It all starts with not knowing, being empty.
For Action for the Arts and Humanities, Heliya offered an abstract painting titled, Let’s turn together it’s more fun. We believe that this work represents the essence of what we aim to achieve through our project, as the connection between different fields of expertise and the act of bringing into dialogue diverse knowledge viewpoints “with no preconception, no condemnation” can enable us to fully understand the challenges of the 21st century.
